Oscar 2022 is a week away and the nominations this year have already made experts scratch their heads. As complicated and confusing as it is to predict the close calls of these categories, we’ve tried to reach some firm grounds through deduction from recent big awards earned by films, cast and crew in respective categories. So, diving straight into the categories here are the predictions for the 94th Academy Awards, 2022.
Watch: 2022 Oscar nominations in 3 minutes
Best Film: The Power Of The Dog
If you’ve followed the Oscar nominations, you would be ready to read the name of Jane Campion’s film The Power of the Dog a little too often because of the number of nominations the film earned at the Oscars.
Keeping in mind all the accolades, appreciation and (let’s not forget) the sweeping nominations at the Oscars, there is a strong possibility that Benedict Cumberbatch led The Power of the Dog makes it in this category.
But the win for Apple TV+’s CODA at the Screen Actors Guild – where The Power of the Dog couldn’t even make it to the nominations – hints in a totally different direction.
Another film that is somehow in a win-win situation with this nomination category is Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up. And this is because the film is a metaphor of how we don’t take even a dire disaster seriously until it’s just on our nose. So, if this film wins an Oscar it will be a literal win for the team. But if it doesn’t then the awards might just exemplify what the film already showed.
Best Actress: Jessica Chastain
The speculations for the best actress are not eased by the BAFTA and SAG results. With SAG giving a platform to Jessica Chastain for The Eyes of Tammy Faye but all these rankings and accolades can be deceptive.
Former Oscar-winner Penélope Cruz beat unusual odds to land a nomination for Parallel Mothers (Madres Paralelas), ahead of Lady Gaga for House of Gucci. On the other hand, Kristen Stewart is the sole Oscar 2022 nomination for her film Spencer for playing Princess Diana.
But by simple deductions of other awards this season and prior Oscar wins, it is likely that Jessica Chastain will make it to the golden statuette. As the awards are generous to her this year and she’s the only one in the list who has never earned the golden statuette.
This is a rather easy prediction when a star of a magnitude as Will Smith is in the nominations with a banger performance and an elevated approach to the race for awards. Smith has already received awards and applause for his exceptional performance as Richard Williams in Reinaldo Marcus Green’s King Richard, which includes both SAG and BAFTA.
If Smith wins he’d be only the fifth Black man to win lead actor following Sidney Potier, Danzel Washington, Jamie Foxx and Forest Whitaker. Out of which Washington and Whitaker were the ones Smith lost his two past nominations to.
Best Cinematography And Background Score: Dune
Dune has a big chance of getting something home from the Oscars night. Being the second-highest nominated film and Denise Villeneuve’s sixth to be nominated for The Academy Awards; out of which, his previous two films did get him some golden statuettes.
DUNE is back on HBO Max today ahead of the Oscars, where it's nominated in 10 categories including Best Picture. One of the most visceral, visually overpowering movies of last year, operatic and completely mesmeric from first frame to last. pic.twitter.com/P7r47mHrEX
From best cinematography to original score, Dune has earned numerous awards at Bafta and has some opulent international awards in her name. And Dune winning an Oscar or two might not come as a surprise. After all, the film was technically impeccable and internationally appreciated.
Kamalika Sengupta: #Kolkata: Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee and his wife will arrive in Delhi on Sunday for questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a financial scandal involving a coal scam in the state, a source told News18. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and his wife Rujira Banerjee will face interrogation at the ED’s Coal Scam on March 21 and 22, according to the March 21 and 22 schedule. .
A source close to Abhishek Banerjee said that according to the law, Abhishek and Rujira will have to face interrogation. Abhishek Banerjee was interrogated for more than eight hours in September after the Bengal Assembly elections in West Bengal last year. Abhishek and Rujira, both residents of West Bengal, should not have been summoned for questioning in Delhi, they said.
On March 11, the Delhi High Court dismissed the petition. As a result, Abhishek and Rujira have to appear before the ED again.
Trinamool, however, sees the issue as ‘political revenge’ State Education Minister Bratya Basu said Abhishek Banerjee has been targeted by the BJP. “They are harassing Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek to make Bengal small.” The BJP will have to pay the price later for this political revenge, ”said Bratya Basu, the state education minister.
Many within the party have said that after the results of the Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh and four other states, the BJP has been doing these things to ‘tarnish’ the Bengal leadership as part of its ‘politics’.
Abhishek Banerjee and his wife were both interrogated separately in this case by ED. After eight hours of questioning, Abhishek Banerjee announced that he would abide by the law of the land but would not stop his fight against the BJP.
However, the BJP has denied any involvement in the incident. According to the Gerua party, the Delhi High Court had rejected Abhishek Banerjee’s plea, so the ED would summon them. “It has nothing to do with politics,” said a party source.
Apart from Abhishek Banerjee and his wife, his PA and other close associates have also been interrogated (Coal Scam Case).

#Kolkata: Dilip Ghosh (BJP Dilip Ghosh) appeared in Newtown Ecopark on Sunday morning at 7 am. BJP all-India vice-president and BJP MP Dilip Ghosh attacked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the security of Tilottama in front of journalists on the morning of her visit. He also expressed displeasure over the election violence in the state. Asked how safe the metropolis is in the aftermath of one shooting after another in the city, he said, “We are seeing a little more metropolis as the kind of violence, anti-social activities that have started in the districts, the state government has no control anywhere.” Dilip Ghosh mocked the role of the Chief Minister (CM Mamata Banerjee) and said, “The Chief Minister is no longer in the state and is dreaming of becoming the Prime Minister. So the people of the state have been handed over to the thugs here. Two councilors were killed on the same day, with miscreants roaming the streets in broad daylight. They are not being caught, even if they are caught, not a single person is being punished. ” He also remarked that the work of the police without punishing the miscreants is now only to stop the opposition.
On the other hand, in Asansol and Baliganj Center Loksabha Election 2022_ Baliganj Trinamool candidate Babul Supriyo in his campaign mocked Dilip Ghosh (BJP Dilip Ghosh). Barely wearing a hat, when are you going to wear a lungi? They change parties like changing clothes. They have lost morally, now they are ready to become ministers hand in hand. ” It is unthinkable that elections are taking place one after the other, we see the police busy catching the opposition by stopping the thieves. ”He alleged that the ruling party of West Bengal was trying to force the vote by force of arms.
Condemning the attack on Ranaghat MP Jagannath Sarkar, Dilip Ghosh said, “Two days ago, our district president Kalyan Chaub was attacked. The Jagannath government was attacked yesterday. We see miscreants stepping on fire, firing guns. ” Complaining about the insecurity of the common man in the state, BJP all-India vice-president Dilip Ghosh said that the state government does not lack security for ministers and MLAs. But the government’s role in protecting the common man is a silent spectator.

On the one year anniversary of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, let me take you on a journey
One Year Ago the impossible happened, a movie all of Hollywood told didn’t exist came into existence, just through the sheer force of fans of Zack Snyder’s DC projects. So join me on my journey through three movies that have connected and stayed with me beyond my expectations.
Let us start with Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. Honestly, I didn’t even know the guy’s name before he directed Man Of Steel. After he was announced as the new Superman director it clicked that this was the guy who made 300, so I knew this movie would be out of the box as well. And damn it truly was.
The Superman origin story was such a beautiful, thought-provoking, self-questioning and tender journey with so much heart. And on top of that was the most intense action scenes I have ever seen in a comic book film, and to be honest, I haven’t seen anything like it ever since.
Then came Batman Vs Superman, a movie that still gets better on every rewatch for me, but it makes me question myself every time. You see, I loved every second of this movie from start to finish and it might end up being my favourite movie of all time, but every time I watch it a question arises in my mind. What was it that I saw which no one else had seen? Why did I end up loving this movie so much which was universally hated by everyone? Am I wrong? or is the world playing a sadistic game with my feelings?
Zack Snyder’s Justice League | Trilogy Traile
But as it, fortunately, turned out, I was not alone. After the abomination that was the 2017 Justice League, I found out that despite the critical and public bashing of Batman Vs Superman, there was a massive fanbase that felt what I felt when I watched Man of Steel and BVS.
From lows to highs in Justice League
I eventually realised what the reason was for the hatred of Batman Vs Superman. It was a deconstruction of the superheroes we love. He questioned if we really needed Batman and Superman. He showed us how tarnished humanity actually is. He showed us how media is as good a weapon as an actual force to destroy a person. He tested the limits of a Superman trying to do what is right and questioned if a Batman in Gotham would actually be of any help.
The movie showed us Superheroes suffering trauma. People who went to this film as an escape found the truth too close to home and that is the reason this movie is still unbearable for many.
But you have to realise, we can only go to the highest of the highs when you have seen the lowest of the lows. That kind of cyclical nature was what Zack Snyder’s DC trilogy was built upon. After questioning their worth in Batman Vs Superman, we get to see the celebration of our cherished heroes which feels so so much more deserved than a usual superhero arc. Zack Snyder’s Justice League was a four-hour celebration of the iconic Justice League. It treats its heroes with so much love which I haven’t felt in any other CBM.
It shows us that we actually did need Batman and Superman. Batman goes on his biggest mission to form the Justice League to defend the earth against Darkseid, and Superman is the key to defeating him. This movie was yet another 10/10 DC movie for me and it was such a fitting tribute to the Justice League we cherish.
And to be honest there is nothing quite like Flash reversing time to save the world-pure cinema.
An unfinished story
I could go on about this movie for pages, but I must stop. After seeing the glorious Snyder Cut, it is clear that the story is unfinished.
While Hollywood insiders have kept saying that DC has moved on and Zack Snyder has moved on to Netflix, this is a fandom that doesn’t know how to lose. Toxic fandom you say?
Go on Twitter and give a genuine critique of No Way Home or The Batman see your Twitter mentions go crazy. There is toxicity in every fandom, but I have yet to see any other fandom raising ‘Half A Million dollar’ for charity. The exact same argument insiders made for the #ReleasetheSnyderCut are being used now look how that turned out. Even the beloved director doesn’t shy away from showing us a glimpse of what could have been in his regular social posts.
So while the fight for the Snyder Cut was four years long, here is to hoping the fight for #RestoretheSnyderverse is shorter.
Newtown: Another feather in the crown of Rajarhat Newtown. Professor Shanku Park was created by NKDA. This theme park is built on two acres of land behind Action Area City Center Two (North 24 Parganas News). The park was inaugurated by his son Sandeep Roy on the occasion of Satyajit Ray’s 100th birth anniversary. It had to close within days of the park opening for the Kovid infection last year. As the park is open to the public again this month, Newtown Kolkata Development Board authorities say the crowds are growing.
NKDA Chairman Debashis Sen said, “The theme park was created in just one and a half months to mark the centenary of the birth of Ray. It closed shortly after the inauguration for Kovid. The park has become a special attraction for them. ” Officials claim that almost everyone who comes to visit the city center will come to the park once.
Professor Shanku Park was created by NKDA to pay homage to this proverbial filmmaker by commemorating Satyajit Ray’s birthday on May 2. Not only children who come to visit the park, but also those who love this great creation of Satyajit Ray are getting nostalgic here. As soon as you enter the main gate of the park, you will see a huge statue of Professor Shankur. There are children’s play areas. You will see ‘aliens’. Mummy, pyramid can be visualized. An environment has been created by planting date palms all around, it will feel like a piece of Egypt.
In this park you will find some amazing paintings about Shanku and his stem factory. Evening light – every creation will feel alive here in the magical environment of shadow. In addition to the ticket counter, there is also a cafeteria and toilet in this park.
