Art Atelier, a cultural hub in New Town Kolkata promoting classical, semi-classical dance, music and fitness, located in Astra Towers, on the main road of New Town (Biswa Bangla Sarani), is all set to host ‘GLS Parampara’ at EZCC on 9th April, 2023, where their regular students, along with the winners of the ‘Kolkata Got Dancer’ (Semi-classical dance competition organised by Art Atelier), will perform live on stage.

Boasting an aesthetically designed studio with uninterrupted open space of 2000 sq. ft., Art Atelier is associated with the London College of Music, following university syllabi, under which the students are prepared for examinations pertaining to Keyboards, Guitars, Violins, and Western Vocal classes. It is also affiliated to Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh, which imparts structured classical dance training, and holds examinations in Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Odissi, Creative and Contemporary dance forms, Hindustani classical vocal and Drawing. Its Western dance category, Zumba, Yoga, Bollywood fitness and Bengali recitation classes deserve special mention.

Renowned artist and choreographer from Mumbai, Shri Devesh Mirchandani, the disciple of Pandit Birju Maharaj, who had been taking regular classes on Kathak at Art Atelier for the last nine months, is currently holding an eight day workshop of classical and semi-classical dance, with Kathak being the primary dance form, which is being organised by Art Atelier from the 1st till the 8th of April, 2023.

The workshop and the dance recital is the brain-child of Sandeep Sarkar and Mallika Sarkar, Directors of Art Atelier, who, along with their efficient team members, are quite confident to host ‘GLS Parampara’, and make it an annual event for many years to come.

MILAN: Romelu Lukaku’s management company reacted with outrage after the Inter Milan forward was shown a second yellow card and then sent off for a gesture toward Juventus fans who directed racist chants at him.

The incident occurred after Lukaku converted a penalty in stoppage time to earn Inter a 1-1 draw in the Italian Cup semifinals on Tuesday.

Lukaku held his finger to his lips as if to silence the crowd after scoring.

Lukaku’s gesture enraged the opposing team and the game ended in a scuffle between the two squads, with Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado and Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic also sent off.

“Tonight’s racist remarks made towards Romelu Lukaku by Juventus fans in Turin were beyond despicable and cannot be accepted,” Roc Nation Sports International president Michael Yormark said. “Before, during, and after the penalty, he was subjected to hostile and disgusting racist abuse. Romelu celebrated in the same manner he has previously celebrated goals.

“The referee’s response was to award a yellow card to Romelu. Romelu deserves an apology from Juventus, and I expect the league to condemn the behaviour of this group of Juventus supporters immediately,” Yormark added. “The Italian authorities must use this opportunity to tackle racism, rather than punish the victim of the abuse.”

Lukaku himself added on Instagram: “History repeats. Been through it in 2019.. and 2023 again..I hope the league really take actions for real this time because this beautiful game should be enjoyed by everyone.”

The Italian league on Wednesday issued a statement in which Lukaku was not named but said that it “strongly condemns every episode of racism and every form of discrimination.”

“A few people in the stands cannot ruin the soccer show and don’t represent the thoughts of all the fans,” the league said.

The league judge will likely open a disciplinary case into the matter, while Juventus said it would collaborate with authorities to identify the fans responsible.

Lukaku, who is Black, has been subjected to racist chants on numerous occasions during his two stints at Inter.

“It is simply unacceptable to see the racist abuse aimed by spectators at (Lukaku),” FIFA president Gianni Infantino wrote on Instagram. “FIFA and I stand with Romelu Lukaku, just as we do with any other player, coach, match official, fan or participant in a football match who has suffered from racism or any other form of discrimination.

“I repeat the call I made earlier this year for fans to stand up and silence the racists,” Infantino added.

Akanksha Dubey Suicide Case Latest Update: Bhojpuri actor Akanksha Dubey died on March 26 this year. The actor was found dead in a hotel room in Varanasi’s Sarnath where she had been shooting for her new film. Now, as per a report in India Today, the actor’s post-mortem report is out and it reveals the presence of an unknown liquid in her stomach.

The report further reveals that the mucus membrane of Akanksha’s stomach was also choked, and there were injury marks on her wrist. The daily claimed that the report mentioned the existence of 20 ml liquid in her stomach. The post-mortem report added that no trace of alcohol was found in the late actor’s body and she wasn’t in an inebriated state. The mucus membrane could be congested due to the presence of a coercive material, said the report.

AKANKSHA DUBEY’S MOTHER FILES POLICE COMPLAINT AGAINST ACTOR’S BOYFRIEND

Meanwhile, Akanksha’s mother, Madhu Dubey, has filed a police complaint against Samar Singh, who was the actor’s boyfriend, and his brother Sanjay Singh. She has alleged that the two brothers were harassing Akanksha and not letting her work with other people. She also claimed that they owed her tons of money and had even allegedly given her death threats. “Akanksha worked with Samar for the past three years but he did not pay a single penny to her. Dues on Samar had gone above Rs 3 crore. Whenever Akanksha sought her payment, Samar used to torture and thrash her and he also used to harass her whenever she tried to work with other artistes,” she said while speaking to the media.

The Varanasi police are still probing the case while an abetment to suicide case has been registered against Samar and Sanjay. CCTV footage from the hotel premises further revealed that Akanksha had the company of a man named Sandeep Singh on the night of her death. The video allegedly showed the late actor entering the hotel at midnight with him and spending around 17 minutes with her inside.

Hooghly:  Amid heavy deployment of the police force in the violence-hit Hooghly district in West Bengal, prohibitory order was still in force and internet services remained suspended in Rishra town on Wednesday. “Things are under control. There is no incident of any disturbance from anywhere in the district. We have our forces deployed at crucial junctions and areas. Nobody is allowed to roam around without any purpose. We are trying to bring back life to normalcy,” a senior police officer of Chandannagore Police Commissionerate told PTI.

He also said that several people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in Sunday’s violence. A decision on withdrawing prohibitory orders and removal of the suspension of internet services in the area would be taken later in the day following an evaluation of the situation, he said.

Clashes were reported in Rishra town on Sunday evening during a Ram Navami procession in which BJP national vice president Dilip Ghosh and party’s Pursurah MLA Biman Ghosh were present. The MLA was injured and has been hospitalised.

Parts of nearby Serampore town also witnessed incidents of vandalism following which prohibitory orders were imposed and internet services suspended.

On Tuesday West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose cut short his Darjeeling trip to rush back to the city before visiting Rishra to take stock of the situation there.

He spoke to senior police officers and locals and assured them that the miscreants would be brought to book.

Mamata accuses BJP of inciting violence

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of “hiring goons” from Bihar to incite violence. She said that the rioters do not belong to any religion and they are the “BJP goons”.

“I have to be alert all the time lest BJP incites riots. They don’t understand that the people of Bengal don’t like violence. Rioting is not Bengal’s culture. We don’t engage in riots, the general public doesn’t incite riots. When BJP can’t on its own, it hires people to fan riots. They (BJP) are bringing goons from Bihar. All people from Bihar are not goons. The rioters are not Hindus or Muslims or Sikhs or Adivasis, they are BJP goons.,” Mamata added.
