‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ Season 3 renewal status
This adaptation of Ann M. Martin’s beloved book series updates the characters for 21st-century youth coming of age while maintaining the source material’s focus on personal growth, self-discovery, and friendship.
Season 1 of ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’, which premiered on Netflix on July 3, 2020, had ten episodes and was a huge success. Season 2 of the show debuted in October of last year, much to the delight of fans eager to reunite with ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’.
Season 2 of ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ received praise for its ability to faithfully adapt its source material while effectively introducing new audiences to its group of young protagonists. The finale featured a significant turning point for Kristy and her relationship with her family after Watson expressed interest in adopting her and her brothers.
But, sadly, it is time to say goodbye because Netflix has officially cancelled ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’. Season one of the show was a huge success, garnering seven Emmy Award nominations. Season two has maintained a perfect Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ cancellation
In an interview with Vulture, Rachel Shukert claims that the show’s viewership was in line with expectations and explains Netflix’s final decision. She also discussed her plans for ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’ season 3, stating that she wants to make it something special. She goes on to say that she wanted to write a story that would show the girls growing up as they approached the high school and that she would miss working with the cast.
“I really wanted to do a Super Special. I was trying to figure out, Should they go to New York? Should they get snowed in? It depended on where they would let us shoot, and I was excited about telling a story that would see them into high school — not wrap everything up but honour what we made”.
Shukert went on to say that season two ended on a high note. It was emotionally satisfying for her. Even though she now misses the girls, they had more stories to tell. She adored working with them, describing them as “extraordinary actresses and people”.
Many people were surprised by Netflix’s decision to cancel ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’, and with a series like this that was so beloved by fans, it is difficult to understand why it happened.
Fans of the series’ cast can see Xochitl Gomez in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, as America Chavez, alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen. Aside from Gomez, many of ‘The Baby-Sitters Club’s’ young actors are appearing in upcoming projects. Momona Tamada will soon be part of ‘Secret Headquarters’, and DC’s ‘Black Adam’ will feature Bohdi Sabongui. Sabongui’s role in the superhero film is still unknown, but with an October 21, 2022 release date, fans won’t have to wait long to find out.
