Time Flies in WandaVision
The first and foremost thing that happens in episode 3 of WandaVision is that Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) gets pregnant and even gives birth to twins. All this happens in around 15 to 16 hours. Keeping in mind that Vision (Paul Bettany) asked the doctor for the size of a fruit that would help “keep tabs on their growing babies” at “say, 12 hours?” So, apparently, time is flying at a faster rate which again makes us think about this world being nothing but Wanda’s reality, controlled by her. Maybe. And if not, then where is all this happening?
Vision and the Twins Affect Wanda
There is a point in episode 3 of WandaVision when Vision finds his friend Herb cutting down even the fence in the process of cutting the overgrown bushes. And yet when he tells Herb about it, Herb only reacts but doesn’t stop. This is significant. We have already considered the fact that all this is Wanda’s reality. So is it so that since Wanda is pregnant and is undergoing a lot of mental stress along with the baby’s kicks, she is unable to gain complete control of her reality?
Furthermore, there comes a point soon after where Vision himself realizes that “something’s wrong here”. Now, what is this? This seems to go against Wanda’s reality.
If Vision is realizing what all is happening, is it so that Vision, too, is sharing his reality with Wanda’s?
But again just when Vision says the words, Wanda turns back time and changes the course of the reality just like she has been doing during such moments.
And, there is another suggestion! Since it is Wanda’s reality, she controls everything. So is she even controlling her own pregnancy? Is all this then but an act? After all, we do see Vision quoting Shakespeare’s famous lines “All the world’s a stage. All the men and women, merely players.”
The Arrival of Twins Billy & Tommy aka Wiccan and Speed
In episode 3 of WandaVision, Wanda gives birth to twins. Much similar to her own history, as she and her brother Pietro (Quicksilver) were twins as well. Although “You know, I’m twelve minutes older than you,” says Pietro to her during the final battle between the Avengers and Ultron in Avengers: Age of Ultron. This again makes us question, is she controlling everything? Even the birth of her babies? We cannot say anything until further episodes release.
Here, we also must remember that whatever she is going through is reflecting in some way or the other on her reality (if it is indeed hers). One example is Herb cutting the fence. Another is that when her water broke, it started raining (inside the house).
Is This Hydra’s Doing?
As in the previous 2 episodes, episode 3 of WandaVision also has Hydra’s presence in the form of a commercial. But this time, it is the Hydra Soak, a luxury bar. One can even see the Hydra logo used as a pattern of the case. And the tagline goes: Find the Goddess within!
Well, we need to keep something in mind here. We know that Strucker who gave Wanda her powers (and Pietro too) was a Hydra member. And Scarlett Witch can be in some ways called a goddess. So is the commercial too a creation of Wanda’s subconscious?
Wanda Finds Out About SWORD
As we move towards the end of episode 3 of WandaVision, there is a point where Vision comes out to see the Doctor off and wishes him for his trip, the doctor replies by saying, “small towns, you know. So hard to…escape.” And while we try to register what just happened, we find Agnes and Herb talking about Geraldine (who is inside the house with Wanda). And as soon as Vision asks them as to what’s going on (because he too doubts), they pretend that nothing is wrong. However, before this, we do see Herb wanting to tell Vision something and it goes like this: “She (Geraldine) came here because we’re all…” This is just when Agnes interrupts him and breaks the conversation. They are definitely hiding something.
On the other hand, Geraldine mentions something to Wanda which she couldn’t have known. When Wanda tells her that she had a brother named Pietro, Geraldine completes her sentence by saying that he was killed by Ultron. And immediately after, Wanda recognizes the sign that is on Geraldine’s necklace. It was of SWORD.
This is further established when she is thrown out of Wanda’s reality (in some way or the other) and falls into the real world. She comes out of some sort of a digital portal and is thrown to the ground where we see SWORD agents gathering to recover her. And as the camera widens, we see multiple floodlights focusing on the same kind of portals. This may be proof of how SWORD is indeed monitoring everything happening inside. And this is how they got through to Wanda via the radio and maybe the helicopter too.
When Herb says, “She (Geraldine) came here because we’re all,” what was he trying to say? Are they all agents of SWORD? Or are they other superhumans trying to protect Wanda and Vision and help them escape from their own fabrication. And if this is so, who is the Doctor and why did he say that they couldn’t “escape”? Is he stuck in this reality of Wanda? Has Wanda captured him and more like him in this reality? WandaVision throws a lot of questions at us and this only means one thing. A lot will be revealed in Episode 4.
