Meet the ‘Silicon Valley’ characters
A major contribution towards the award-winning show ‘Silicon Valley’ is made by its brilliant characters, each developed as a distinct personality. The primary cast of ‘Silicon Valley’ includes Thomas Middleditch, T.J. Miller, Josh Brenner, Martin Starr, Kumail Nanjiani, Christopher Evan Welch, Amanda Crew, Zac Woods, Matt Ross, Suzzane Cryer, Jimmy O. Yang, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Chris Diamantoupolous.
Although all the ‘Silicon Valley’ characters provided a unique contribution to the storyline, it is primarily Richard Hendricks who carries the weight of the show on his shoulders. Played by Thomas Middleditch, Richard is a Stanford-dropout coder who quits his job to launch the app of his dreams – Pied Piper. The app is created at a “tech incubator” named Hacker Hostel. As the CEO of Pied Piper, Richard hires the inhabitants of Hacker Hostel – Elrich Bachman, Dinesh Chugtai, Bertram Gilfoyle, and Jared Dunn a.k.a Big Head, to work for him.
The end of ‘Silicon Valley’ Season 6 was irony at its best. In the end, it isn’t Richard’s passion, Gilfoyle’s brilliance, or Dinesh’s self-centered opportunism, or a technological snag that puts an end to their dreams. It is the same thing that has brought down dynasties in the past. In their attempt to jam the signals, they end up creating a high-pitched tone that is neither audible to humans nor to dogs. Ironically, it is only the rats that can hear it, a clever satirical twist on the company’s name Pied Piper. Cracking open bottles of tequila, the ‘Silicon Valley’ characters watch their dreams come crashing down, with them being the only people who knew how close they had come to destroying the world.
Who is the actor playing Ron LaFlamme – The flamboyant Pied Piper attorney?
Although every character of ‘Silicon Valley’ is portrayed interestingly, what caught the viewer’s eyes is the character of Pied Piper’s hot new attorney Ron LaFlamme, played by Ben Feldman. Originally an allegiant of Peter Gregory, Ron LaFlamme is a legal advisor to Richard and his company Pied Piper. LaFlamme not just charms on-screen with his flamboyant personality but has also proved to be a highly competent lawyer when the need arose. Charismatic, hot, competitive – LaFlamme’s charm set a lot of hearts to flames.
According to IMDb, Ben Feldman started his acting career at the age of six with a musical titled ‘Annie’. His Hollywood debut was in the film ‘The Perfect Man’ (2005), alongside Hillary Duff, Chris Noth, and Heather Locklear. In the same year, he made his TV debut with the American sitcom ‘Living with Fran’. Feldman was a regular on shows like ‘Drop Dead Diva’ as guardian angel Fred and as Michael Ginsberg in AMC’s ‘Mad Men’. Besides starring in ‘Silicon Valley’, Feldman played the lead in NBC sitcom ‘Superstore’ since 2015 as Jonah Simms.
After pursuing a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in acting from the Ithaca College in New York, Feldman performed quite a few shows on Broadway. Then he packed his bag and left for Los Angeles to act in films and television shows. Today, Feldman is also the co-owner of a wine label called Angelica Cellars. On 12 October 2013, Feldman tied the knot with NCIS-famed actress Michelle Mulitz and the couple are now proud parents of two kids, a three-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter.
How Ben Feldman became Ron LaFlamme
Feldman hates shorts! But when he heard about the character of Ron LaFlamme, a flamboyant douchebag, who also happens to be an intelligent attorney, Feldman was more than intrigued.
When “Vulture” asked him how he landed the role, Feldman said,
“ I was so excited to audition. I saw the breakdown and it just kind of read “douchebag” and I was like, ‘I want this’. It was really cool. As much as I hate shorts”. He jokingly added, “It’s funny, I don’t get to play characters where I wear what I want to wear”.
But, unfortunately, with the news of ‘Silicon Valley’ Season 6 being the end of the series, fans are heartbroken at the prospect of not seeing more of Ron LaFlamme. A fan on Reddit wrote, “Ron LaFlamme is hilarious. I love that guy”.
Another Reddit user wrote,
“The best recurring character on this show for sure. It’s so weird seeing him as these two entirely different characters (Ron LaFlamme in ‘Silicon Valley’ and Jonah Simms in ‘Superstore) but I think it shows just how good at acting Ben is”.
