Netflix cancelled ‘The OA’ just after two seasons and now we have too many unanswered questions. What are they? Keep reading to find out!
Being the party-pooper that Netflix is, it decided to cancel ‘The OA’ just when we were getting warmed up to it. The bizarre, mysterious, sci-fi show, ‘The OA’, had given us quite a few head-scratchers during the run. Naturally, when Netflix cancelled ‘The OA’ just after two seasons, people were quite bummed out for it meant so many questions would remain unanswered.
Highlights —
- Where is Elias Rahim?
- Who is OA’s brother and where is he?
- Where did OA and Hap go at the end of season 2?

Where is Elias Rahim?
Elias Rahim was the FBI therapist with whom the OA or Prairie talks in the first season. The season shows Rahim snooping around Prairie’s parents’ house but never offers an explanation about what it was that he was looking for. Then, episode 6 of the second season just pops him in, out of the blue, at the motel hide-out of Prairie’s friends and teacher, BBA.
There’s a whole world of questions we have about Rahim and ‘The OA’ left them unanswered. What has Rahim been doing all the while before he suddenly pops in season 2? We know his destiny is to help the OA, but how? Why was there a ripple in the mirror behind him? What did it mean? Who sent him to help the OA? But the most important of all – where did he go for we have no sight of him during the last two episodes of season 2.

What is Elodie’s role really?
Remember Irene Jacob as Elodie? She appeared as yet another person on the show who could travel through the dimensions. Her paths cross with Hap and later with OA. Apparently, she knows more about inter-dimensional travel than OA or Hap and thinks of herself as some sort of a guide.
The big question is what more information does she have? Is Elodie already familiar with OA and Hap from having met them in other dimensions? Moreover, she has been extremely helpful to OA. She offered useful advice to OA in the first season of the show. However, the most important of all the unanswered questions about Elodie is why is she helping OA? Also, could she really be trusted, especially since she has been in the loop with Hap?

Who is OA’s brother and where is he?
This one’s a real doozy! Old Night informs OA about her having a brother in all the dimensions tasked with her protection. Not just that, mega-octopus admitted that a certain ‘she’ had sent OA’s brother for her protection. Now there are two unanswered questions about this on ‘The OA’ – who is the “she” that mega-octopus talks about, and who is OA’s brother? Could “she” be BBA since we already know her special ties with OA? Could Rahim be the brother since it was established that he was sent to help OA? Wait, there’s one more candidate! Could the brother be Steve? Steve is one of the first dimension kids with BBA and seems quite taken by OA. You know, two plus two!

Old Night – What on Earth?
Okay, this one is more of a WTF unanswered questions on ‘The OA’. Granted that ‘The OA’ has shown us some pretty weird stuff to the point where it was almost like it couldn’t surprise us anymore, but honestly, whaaat? So, when OA visits the nightclub that her alternate dimensional self, Nina, used to be a regular in, things take a weird turn.
Apparently, OA was the main act of the club and it had her seated before a huge water tank as a giant octopus, Old Night hugs and speaks through her. Explains a lot, true, but what on earth! Even for a show like ‘The OA’, it was too weird! Whatever that may be, does the creature only speak with Nina? Moreover, do all the nightclubs in alternate-dimension-San-Francisco have one of these giant octopuses?

Where did OA and Hap go at the end of season 2?
This is exactly why Netflix is such a bummer! If you haven’t seen ‘The OA’ already, we wouldn’t want to spoil things for you. But we’ll say this, the ending of ‘The OA’ left us with more questions that Netflix decided to keep unanswered. The leap that the OA and Hap take into the other dimension opens up a world of possibilities. Where did they go? Initially, writers Batmanglij and Marling had pitched for five seasons of the show and had some interesting plans following the season 2 leap. Actor John Isaacs, who played Hap, told “Daily Express”,
“I do know some of their ideas and they are … insane is the wrong word … can I say barking mad?”
We’d never know now, would we?
Thanks a lot, Netflix!
